Lumenus Community Services Announces Appointment of New CEO

Andrew Obee to spearhead the next phase of innovation and collaboration across the organization.

TORONTO, ON – November 14, 2023 – The Board of Directors of Lumenus Community Services (Lumenus), a leading not-for-profit in the delivery of high quality mental health, developmental, autism and early years intervention services to children, youth, families, and adults is pleased to announce the appointment of Andrew Obee as the organization’s new Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Obee is a transformational leader with a proven track record for innovation, bringing a wealth of experience, strategic thinking, and collaboration to the organization. This appointment signifies a pivotal moment in Lumenus’ journey toward providing integrated, high-quality services that positively impact the lives of individuals and families across Ontario.

Mr. Obee brings a unique blend of public and private sector experience to Lumenus, along with a strong commitment to the nonprofit sector through his extensive volunteer work with youth. He has held senior roles in the public sector in both the Mississauga and Niagara regions, as well as operational leadership positions at Meridian Credit Union and HEPCOE Credit Unions. Most recently, he served as the CEO & President of The FICANEX Group of Companies. Over the past 35 years, he has been an active member of Scouts Canada, including serving on the Board of the Scouts Canada Foundation. Currently, he holds the position of Chair of the Board of Governors for the organization.

In recognizing the exceptional service provided during the transition period, the Board of Directors extends its gratitude to the Interim CEO, Cheryl Webb for her unwavering commitment to Lumenus. Cheryl ensured that Lumenus continued to fulfill its mission and commitments to stakeholders, sustaining the organization’s momentum in achieving its strategic objectives. Cheryl’s leadership resulted in meaningful contributions, keeping the organization unified in its vision to deliver exceptional services to clients. As planned, Cheryl will resume her role as Chief Operating Officer, and she is looking forward to working closely with the newly appointed CEO.

The search committee undertook a comprehensive search with support from Caldwell Partners for this strategic hire. Mr. Obee will begin the role effective December 11, 2023, with transition support from Interim CEO Cheryl Webb and the rest of the Lumenus senior management team.
