The Sexual Offending Risk Needs Assessment and Treatment (or SORNAT) program provides comprehensive assessment and treatment services for youth diagnosed with a Mild Intellectual Disability (MID) who have gotten into trouble for their sexual behaviour. The overall goal of the program is to help reduce the risk of this type of behaviour from occurring again.
Who We Serve:
- Adolescents aged 12 to 18 who are diagnosed with a Mild Intellectual Disability or significant developmental and learning challenges
- Must have engaged in sexualized behaviour(s) that may be concerning or problematic.
- Youth do not need to have charges. However, youth with any type of youth justice system involvement are prioritized.
What We Provide:
Comprehensive Assessments Consisting of:
- Full review of collateral documents gathered at Intake.
- Clinical interviews with youth and parents/caregivers.
- Psychometric testing.
- Summary and recommendations.
- Individual treatment plan customized to the youth’s needs.
Treatment:
- Individual and family counselling for up to 2 years.
- Treatment is modified for youth with a Mild Intellectual Disability and/or significant developmental and learning challenges.
- Typical treatment areas may include such things as: reducing social isolation; increasing pro-social relationship skills; increasing self-esteem; sexual education for youth and family; consent; development of sexual behaviour rules; addressing concerning attitudes; understanding the law.
- Also provide a wide range of service coordination support.

- Await callback from Intake Worker with further information/instructions.
