About This Service
When an urgent situation puts an adult with a developmental disability at risk, having the right support at the right time can make all the difference. Urgent Response and Temporary Supports helps adults age 18+ maintain their safety, stability, and well-being during times of crisis, unexpected change, or caregiver disruption.

The program helps individuals remain connected to their homes, families, and communities whenever possible, while reducing the risk of harm and preventing situations from escalating. Support may be available when a caregiver is no longer able to provide essential care, when someone’s housing is at risk, or when support needs have changed so significantly that current arrangements are no longer sustainable.
Through time-limited crisis and stabilization supports, the program provides flexible funding, risk mitigation and safety planning, temporary living arrangements, community-based supports, caregiver relief, and emergency assistance. Services are accessed through the Developmental Services Ontario urgent response process and are designed to bridge individuals and families to longer-term solutions while addressing immediate needs.
